Mass No. 2 in G major, D 167, by Franz Schubert is one of the best known of his three short settings, or missae breves. Schubert, looks toward a devotional mood in this piece.

This Cantata is for Palm Sunday or the feast of the Annunciation . It  is a celebratory piece as Palm Sunday is a day of celebration, as Christ triumphantly entered the city of Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna”.

Fun fact: Schubert’s piece was composed in under one week!

  • Saturday 12th April, 7pm

  • St Gabriel’s Church, Warwick Square, Pimlico, London, SW1V 2AD
